Purecraft Bar & Kitchen

30 Waterloo St, Birmingham B2 5TJ, UK – 0121 237 5666

We booked the cellar for a very casual wedding reception for about 35 guests. We were there from 12 pm to 11 pm! The service was amazing. The staff were lovely and served us and our guest to the best of their ability. We could play our own very rock-centric music. We decorated the place to our liking. We even ordered loads of delicious beer tapas, which our guests were very complimentary of. Everyone loved everything about our event. The food, the drinks, the atmosphere. Didn’t want to leave!

Really nice quirky upmarket bar and restaurant. Food menu is not over the top, has some splendid choices and the flavours are brilliant. Compliments to the kitchen staff and chefs. Drinks are average prices. The bar itself is only a few minutes from the train station.

Bacchus Bar

Burlington Arcade, New St, Birmingham B2 4JH, UK – 0121 632 5445

Convenient locations, loads of seats and a atmospheric decor make this a great pub. The selection of beers was good and varied. Only thing that stops it being five is really snobbery on my part because it's clearly decorated rather and I like my pubs a little more authentic.

Such a lovely place to sit in but the table service could be improved. I've given 3 stars due to the poor food. The price doesn't match the poor quality of food.

The Gentleman & Scholar Pub and Terrace

Hyatt Regency Birmingham, 2 Bridge Street, Birmingham B1 2JZ, UK – 0121 643 1234

Great hotel bar. A vast variety of coktails and late night food. Heated smoking terrace. Service is excellent very professional staff. Highly recommended.

Good outdoor space with heat lamps. Street scene currently marred by large construction works. Drinks somewhat pricey.

The Warehouse Cafe

54-57 Allison St, Birmingham B5 5TH, UK – 0121 633 0261

An incredible vegan cafe! I honestly didn't think vegan food could taste this good! Went for Sunday Lunch and it was delightful. Very quick and friendly table service, food arrived swiftly and are huge portions for the price. I very much recommend this place for a nice meal or raven just a coffee in the chilled ambience.

Great vegetarian cafe. Good menu with lots of options. I had the Buddha bowl, which was delicious. The fruit and veggies were all fresh and the various beans and grains went well together. Nice interior and nice staff.

Asha's

12-22 Newhall St, Birmingham B3 3LX, UK – 0121 200 2767

Very nice food. The items I had seemed to have a North Indian influence and were lovely, but pricey. The welcome is not as warm as I would expect from this brand and price level. It seems very rushed and could be improved. For this price level, I would expect some level of conversation and not just order taking. As mentioned the food, drinks (including mocktails which my kids loved) and desserts were lovely, but be prepared for your wallet to take a hammering.

I’m a peoples person. I care and want them to care “have you been here before” is an important thing for me to hear. It opens up conversions and comfortability with the waiter. That was lacking, I never even got a name. They (two different people) came to take the order and left. The guy talked fast and mumbled THE FOOD. That being said food was fantastic and that is the reason for a 4 rating. It was flavorful and filling. More than enough to eat with a bowl of rice and curry

Gaucho

55 Colmore Row Lower Ground Retail, Birmingham B3 2AA, UK – 0121 439 9236

Thank heavens they've softened the ambience a bit. Still underground, but less steel and mirrors, more drapery which means the echo and noise has abated considerably, which makes it a much more pleasant experience. This is THE place to have steak, it's fabulous in that regard. Also good for lunch and evenings alike. Being Argentinian, they cook things on the rarer side of normal for me, so my tip for diners is thus: where steak is concerned I normally go 'medium-rare', but here I go 'medium' and that is perfect, and I mean perfect. Vegetarians will find a very slim choice, so check the menu online first if you think this may sway your booking or enjoyment

My wife and I came here for our anniversary in August 2017. We felt like it was a magical evening and like the staff wanted us to truly enjoy our evening together. Just came here today for Father's Day and my father-in-law absolutely loved it! He's nearly converted, just need to get him to try the steak now!

Chinese Restaurants serving the Birmingham area

Chung Ying

16-18 Wrottesley St, Birmingham China Town, Birmingham B5 4RT, UK – 0121 622 5669

The place to go for very good Dim Sums. However if you are in a wheelchair this place is not really accessible yes they do have a metal ramp to put over the small flight of stairs inside the entrance but this creates a steep incline. They do not have a ramp for the front step which causes a issue of accessing the building especially when going for a meal as a group of friends in wheelchairs. Once inside the restaurant there is a wide open area perfect for a group of friends, family members or just going out for as a couple. It’s a great place to be with a great atmosphere. On a positive side they do have a disabled toilet but the layout and design of how the door opens to access the toilet causes anyone in a wheelchair to get stuck in the narrow corridor between the door and the wall. You will also need your Radar key to access this toilet. Using the ramp to exit the restaurant is very steep and dangerous as their is no staff around to help. Just be aware because you pick up speed as you come down the metal ramp then fly over the small step at the bottom and out onto a busy road. Not the greatest exit and entrance for a modern restaurant.

Food is always nice here. Is a dead basic restaurant though and if you are past 9 they always tell you it's all going to come out at once cause the chef is going home but then bring it dish by dish?! Service is authentic but they also give you cutlery regardless of asking if you can actually use chopsticks. Cost about £25 a head with a few of drinks and set menu

Chung Ying Central Bar & Restaurant

126 Colmore Row, Birmingham B3 3AP, UK – 0121 400 0888

I went in on a Saturday afternoon by accident. Only wanting a cold beer because of the hot weather. I was warmly welcomed by the staff and seated by the bar I ordered a pint of ice cold Tiger Beer and had a good look around to find a very nice cost little restaurant who do Thai food and cocktails/beers the statue of a terracotta soldier in the doorway and a happy smiling Buddha made it a lovely place to chill and drink a nice cold beer. Definitely coming back to try the food and the superb selection of cocktails

Food was excellent, and service was prompt. Not sure I like the tables with the high chairs. Noise level was ok. Slightly more modern environment than the Chung Ying in China town. Excellent when visited at the same time as the Old Joint Stock pub.

Shanghai Blues

Indian Restaurants and takeaways in or near Birmingham

Maharaja Restaurant

23 - 25 Hurst St, Birmingham B5 4AS, UK – 0121 622 2641

I went in alone this evening and the service and food were first class. Very fresh and beautifully cooked and the waiter served it silver service style. Drink poured and half of the meal plated at the table. The staff couldn't be more attentive. Thoroughly recommended, 👍👍👍👍

Amazing place. Been coming since 2016 every time I visit Birmingham. Authentic food and great service !

Kababish

29 Woodbridge Rd, Birmingham B13 8EH, UK – 0121 449 5556

One of the better establishments in the area, one that I have visited a few times with friends who live nearby and visit more frequently. There is a good variety of freshly cooked authentic meals on the menu, and vegetarians and those with certain dietry requirements are well catered for. The staff are very friendly and polite, but don't expect fast service - the food is prepared to order from fresh ingredients, but is well worth the wait. The only thing that lets it down for me, is the shortage of parking in the area, otherwise a full 5 star restaurant.

I really like Kababish, the food is great and the restaurant is quite pleasant. My only issue is that, at least on this occasion, the service was well below par. It all fell apart after our meal when we ordered desserts and drinks. A large table of about 16 had settled in and we were forgotten. They had to take our orders twice and then my Irish Whiskey and a decaf coffee went astray. Half an hour later and only after we pursued the issue did they finally show up. I expect better but have to say staff were friendly, if a little aloof.

eastZeast - Birmingham - Broad Street

197 Broad St, Birmingham B15 1AY, UK – 0121 643 4808

Went in the other day with a mate, was fairly quiet and didn't have much of an atmosphere. We were therefore seated immediately and told that it was closed off upstairs which is a shame, anyway we ordered the set meal dishes as advertised alongside some drinks. We didn't get a pickle tray because it's a rip off and should be free anyway, we paid for one last time we visited Manchester Riverside. There is nowhere near the atmosphere that there is at Manchester Riverside but the food tasted fairly similar. The service was good here so can't fault that in any way, lamb chops were average alongside the chicken starters we had. The chicken and lamb curries were fine but could be better, mocktails could do with being served in bigger glasses with more in them and the rice dishes were pretty average. We paid a fair enough price for the food but had to pay for parking which is an annoyance as well as massive rip off at the Euro Parks car park. If you can get parking on the side roads then it's cheaper. They should move to way bigger premises anyway with a large car park.

One of my favourites in Manchester, so I had to try it when I came here staying in the Hampton Inn next door. The same great menu, I love the pickle tray and the meat/lentil curries, not expensive at all in happy hour (5-7pm).

Italian Pasta and Pizza Restaurants

Jamie's Italian Birmingham

Middle Mall, Bullring Shopping Centre, Birmingham B5 4BE, UK – 0121 270 3610

First time I visited here and I was very surprised. The staff were absolutely amazing and so accommodating to the needs of my 2 year old. Great fun pack for my son to keep him entertained. Right down to the staff suggesting they can bring out his dinner when our starters were ready. Food and drink was great. But the kids meal free all summer .... wow that is giving back, Thank you for an amazing dinner out. Definitely would be coming back and would recommend it to my friends and family.

Food was nice and amazing vegetarian options! You have your own menu with no meat! Amazing! Makes life alot easier rather than scanning for the 'V's. The reason I'm missing the fifth star as the food didn't wow me. It was nice but not five stars. I would definitely go again!

Cielo

6, Oozells Square, Brindley Pl, Birmingham B1 2JB, UK – 0121 632 6882

My 6 year old daughter and I enjoyed a wonderful dining experience at Cielo. The atmosphere was really relaxed and the food was lovely. The staff were really friendly and the service was very good indeed. My little girl loved feeling so grown up. Prices are really reasonable and even more so given the quality of the food. Will definitely be returning.

A very good place to have good food and relax a little. I went for a lunch from the fixed price menu for £20. The service was excellent and the food delicious. I had the spaghetti Bolognese starter which had a lovely meaty and tomato sauce perfectly done, followed by the salmon on a bed of spinach. Delicate and delicious and cooked perfectly. We sat outside and it was very pleasant shaded by the awning. I will go again sometime for lunch or dinner.

ASK Italian

56 New St, Birmingham B2 4DU, UK – 0121 792 3505

It's a chain Italian restaurant. You know what you're going to get - adequate, filling food which won't be the best taste experience you've ever had but will reliably rate a solid "okay". Service was pleasant but not very attentive - the garlic bread and a stack of plates were dropped on our table with alacrity before the waiter disappeared too quickly to speak to - and the table was visually clean but had crumbs on it to the touch. So, so-so.

Been to Ask Italian many times and enjoyed it many times. However this particular branch of Ask is very mediocre. Food is it's usual standard chain style Italian food however the service is what really let's this restaurant down. It's simply abysmal! It took, 10mins to order food, then took 10mins to receive drinks! And they didn't even apologize! Will go to Ask again...just not this particular one

Vegetarian or Vegan Restaurants

Royal Watan Kashmiri Restaurant

602-604 Pershore Rd, Birmingham B29 7HQ, UK – 0121 471 1713

Not Dogs

Moor St, Birmingham B5 4BS, UK – 0121 643 6826

Excellent place for vegetarians and vegans. Food is nice and tasty and served not that long after ordering. I have been here many times and the taste and quality are always consistently good. I visit here frequently when in Birmingham and recommend to all.

I came into this restaurant and for the first time in eating out I wasn't afraid to eat the meal. I knew as it is a vegietarian/vegan place no meat would come into contact with my food. The staff where really friendly. We joked about when eating out at other restaurants the choices are limited and normally the veggie option was salad. We felt welcome and the food was amazing. I had the plain Jane but opted out of the salad. Next time I go I'm going to be a bit more adventurous. So thank you all and I thoroughly enjoyed everything and I would recommend this place to vegietarian and vegans or those wanting a healthier meal.

Wine Bars and Cocktail Bars

All Bar One Newhall Street Birmingham

43 Newhall St, Birmingham B3 3NY, UK – 0121 212 2551

Great on a Friday night straight from work. Good atmosphere. Can be quite quiet during the week.

Friendly service, great menu choices. Food was well presented and delicious. Sweet potato fries make a good alternative option.

All Bar One Brindleyplace

12G-13G, Water's Edge, Brindley Pl, Birmingham B1 2HL, UK – 0121 644 5861

My wife and I really like this bar and restaurant and have frequented the place many, many times over the years. The food is great, particularly the ever changing delicious tapas and sharing plate options. It's tasty food that trumps most of the local eateries. The service is always good and the atmosphere is friendly and welcoming, even when busy. The beer selection is good and there are plenty of decent wines on offer too. Well worth a visit.

Always busy here and generally a good atmosphere. Good beer selection and bar staff very friendly. Foods good too, eaten here many times and always manages to keep a high standard. The only drawback is the toilets which unfortunately are always a mess. A lot to do with public who can't aim which is why I believe they should have separate ladies and gents loos not unisex!!! However they could send the cleaner in more often. Sort that out and 5 stars...

Bohemian Cocktail Bar + Kitchen

Salisbury Chambers, Alcester Rd, Birmingham B13 8JE, UK – 0121 442 6593
