Nursery Schools

What's the difference between nursery and preschool?
Preschools usually work around a formal curriculum and trained teachers - making them a little more expensive! Nursery schools are usually a more relaxed learning environment and more flexible enrolment terms. They are also cheaper and vary greatly.

What age is a preschooler? Ages up to 4 is considered preschooler with toddlers are 1 - 3 year old bracket. Basically 4-year-old are not 'toddling' around any more and so are no longer toddlers!

What does preschool mean? A preschool, or nursery school, is a pre-primary school, or play school for early childhood education. Preschool is for children before they begin compulsory education at primary school.

Is Pre K considered preschool? Pre K schools are pre-kindergartens.

Edgbaston Nursery School

41 Calthorpe Rd, Birmingham B15 1TS, UK – 0121 455 7887

I have gone through so many Nurseries. I visited maybe 10 and joined 2 for maximum 2 weeks but none was as good as this nursery. They care about the child they let them play outside often. They have HALAL meals. And most important that they work as a family.

My son has attended Edgbaston nursery school from baby room right through to pre school,I cant rate this nursery highly enough. I now have my second son joining after Xmas as I am going back to work after maternity leave, and I'm so happy to leave him as my first son loves it, The staff are very friendly and go out of there way to do as much as possible to make my son feel special. I receive text messages on how my son is doing and what activities they are doing during the day and I love it, it stops me from calling all the time to see how he is, Although sometime I do its so nice to hear he is ok and the staff are happy to explain how he is and put him on the phone to talk to me if I need to ...happy mommy :-)

Secondary Schools

Hall Green Secondary School

Southam Rd, Birmingham B28 0AA, UK – 0121 628 8787

Actually a really really decent school! My child thoroughly enjoyed their time here from 2012 - 2017 and was upset to have to move. The majority of teachers were really supportive, in particular Mr.Clarke, Ms Rose, Mr Webb, Ms Morgan, Ms Sohal and Ms Bukovych. Also the pastoral leadership team is strong and focused upon individual children's needs. As far as I am concerned there was very little or no bullying and the teachers often held various assemblies highlighting current issues. Compared to other local schools that my other children have attended Hall Green is by far the best; student-student, student-teacher and teacher-parent relationships are all very strong and it was a school that the pupils genuinely enjoyed attended. Despite the building not being as updated as perhaps other surrounding schools the fact it does not have a sixth form is rather disappointing, considering many of the pupils who left last year would have attended if it did have one. Nevertheless, this it is an outstanding school and does a lot in terms of safeguarding and creating a wonderful atmosphere!

Wao This School is just Amazaing waoo here ..we put our children for their bright futures.

Yardleys School

Reddings Ln, Birmingham B11 3EY, UK – 0121 464 6821

Independent Schools

King Edward's School

Edgbaston Park Road, Birmingham B15 2UA, UK – 0121 472 1672

I have two sons at the school and both have benefited from the academic focus the school provides and the opportunity to develop both intellectually and socially. For a provincial day school, its outlook is remarkably non-parochial. It fosters a tolerant and almost international outlook. It has yet to reach a needs blind admissions system but for a UK school gets close. The fact that it offers a generous assisted places scheme speaks volumes about its ethos and commitment to social mobility and inclusion. It is well known in the Midlands but deserves more national recognition. My boys are lucky and thankfully they realise it.

The best school in England. U have to put ur son in this amazing place!

Salafi Independent School

Priory School

39 Sir Harrys Rd, Birmingham B15 2UR, UK – 0121 440 4103

Since I have been at priory school, I as a person have changed for the better. I now have so much more confidence to get up on stage and found all my hidden talents that before I didn't know I had. I have been at priory school since year 3 and I am now in year 7. Priory school offer loads of amazing activates and opportunities to school productions, sport fixtures, school trips and many, many more. All the staff, teachers and students at Priory are outstanding and pushed all of my potential out of me and made the best of me. I have made life long friends that I will never forget and memories that will last life time. I have enjoyed many years and amazing memories at priory and can't wait for the next years to come. Maddie Y7 student

I've not even been here a year and I love it. All the teachers are nice. All the lessons are fun and I really enjoy them. There are small things the school can improve on e.g. The way we pay for food. They are not things to worry about though. I totally recommend coming here you'll make good friends and enjoy the lessons and all the special events such as preforming arts day. So remember if your looking for a school Priory is one of the best options.

Uffculme Special School

Queensbridge Road, Birmingham Area, Birmingham B13 8QB, UK – 0121 464 5250

I used to go to this school years ago. My headteacher at the time name was Mr Matthews. I remember once he came on Good Morning Britain. It was regarding toy safety. Mrs Astel, Mr Gill, Sue, the art teacher that's all I remember lol. I used to love taming the ponies Gloria the cat ๐Ÿ˜ป. I am very old now. I am married with three gorgeous princesses aged 8,7 and 5. I am now in search of a good job preferably in office administration side or as a classroom assistant. I have 10 yea nors experience in office administration level 1 & level 2. I have also completed level 1 and level 2 in classroom assistant NCFE. I worked voluntary at Starbank Primary school, in the nursery, Pimaston Centre Shirley, 524 Centre Stratford Road, Greet Primary School academic year. I am at this present moment in time looking for part time work preferably after 10.00/10.30 am. Tbh I think I've done considerably well despite myself spending all my education years at a special school including going to South Birmingham College doing different courses then going to Adult Education Centre Stratford Road. Even though I don't have a degree or standard 5-7 GCSE'S at least I have a level 1 in Maths and English level 2. Equivalent to GCSE English.

The best school I ever went too

James Brindley School - Main Base

Bell Barn Rd, Birmingham B15 2AF, UK – 0121 666 6409

This school is fantastic I don't understand why there are so many bad reviews, the staff are only trying to help and put up with so much challenging behaviour. I was a difficult student due to the many issues I was going through but honestly without Miss Miller I wouldn't be here. They protected me from so much and really looked after me, I achieved really good GCSE's and was supported so much. I really appreciate it, I wouldn't have come so far without this school. Truly thankyou to the fantastic staff who do their best to help all of their students no matter what!

This is a great school teachers are so caring would recommend this school son is doing well there

Theirs always one subject everyone is weak in an you think you will never pass it an want to give up which I personally have experienced in maths I didn't think I would ever pass any level however if it wasn't for this women who stood by me an pushed me by saying you can do it I wouldn't of passed one of my maths qualifications last week I'm forever grateful to Naheed she motivated me and bought my strength back into me to not lose hope in anything you want to achieve

Each day is different as I would be completing coursework that would contribute towards the end of my ... year course. I would also do revision in order to pass my english functional skills level 1 or 2 otherwise if and if it was not for me meeting an lovely member named Naheed I would have not been at this place as she's the one who told me nothing is impossible an to not give up as I was weak in English. During my time at this place the hardest part would be trying to not give up on anything amd in order of completing all my qualifications. On the other hand the most enjoyable experience would have to be learning a lot about what I want to do in the near future especially with a future job opportunity.

Options Skills - Birmingham Gas & Electrical Training Centre

The Jubilee Centre, 130 Pershore St, Birmingham B5 6ND, UK – 0808 115 3472

I passed my 4 week Domestic Electrical Installer course today. I found my whole experience with Options Skills to be very good. Phil, in sales who sold me the course comes across as a really friendly, caring, knowledgable and patient guy (not your usual sales person). And he sells a great product which is delivered by Thomas, Mark and backed up by Adam who takes the responsibility in making sure that you transfer into real life situations on completion of the course, in finding you a mentor. Overall I had very basic skills and knowledge before I started the course. On completion I feel I like I could soon be competent in all domestic scenarios. Thanks Guys!

Great course, great teachers, they know what they are doing and explain everything very well. Lots of different appliances to work on so no surprise when you are on your own. Can't recommended enough.

Susan has given me the help and support I needed to excel within science. She has not only improved the standard of my education, but has also broadened my mind on a similar level. I have been to other tutors and none has excelled my expectations as Susan has. Truly the ideal tutor! (Ilyaas As level chemistry , previously GCSE science) My brother's review is below. I`m in my 2nd year of college and my sister is in year 2, Susan teaches us both (as well as my brother above and my year 10 twin sisters) which goes to show the age range she is able to teach. I now understand everything (AS level chemistry) that I used to have doubts on, at college, after I come to Susan. I think she is updated with the new specification and has improved my grades a lot! Thank you. (Shueeb AS chemistry)

The teachers there are very professional and friendly also they follow the child each week and after each session they give details to each parent about the progress of their children :). I highly recommend using genie Tutors / Edgbaston for every child at school age, because they need to learn English and Math and not only play and paint at council's school. Thx Andrea , Luke and others... You are such beautiful people.

It's a very educational place it has been helping me alot thanks to Mr Mark , Luke and Niam I suggest it to all ages becuase people may struggle in maths and English thank you to Genie Tutors.
